Inspired Traveler Series: Meet Jessica

MAS Inspired Traveler Jessica

We believe that being a traveling health professional should be filled with inspiration, memories and unbelievable pictures! To prove it, meet some of our Inspired Travelers sharing their cross country experience.

Today we’re visiting Jessica!

Why did you decide that this was the time to travel?

I woke up one day and realized my son was heading to college soon, and I was sick of feeling like every day was a rerun.

I had this “aha” moment when I realized the profession that I am so passionate about could also open doors for me- literally and figuratively.

How has it changed your perspective on life?

There’s a sense of freedom and security that comes with knowing that you are calling the shots in your own life.

I get to choose where I want to go and how long I want to stay. As a psych nurse, I have learned that there are very clear cultural differences in across the country.

Travel Nursing has been a dramatic improvement on my perspective on my life because it has allowed me to enjoy it more.

Inspirational message to other travelers:

You are not alone, no matter where you are; travelers support each other.

What made you become a nurse or health professional?

I became a nurse initially because of the same “I want to help people” drive that we all feel going in…and I knew I was a psych nurse the minute I did a psych rotation.

I aspired to be the person that I would want to have taking care of my son if he needed help.

Who have you met so far on your journey that left a mark on your trip?

I have met doctors (and clinicians) who actually care about their patients, staff who actually care about nurse patient ratios and most of all, I met a travel nurse who taught me how supportive other travelers really are to each other.

What do you like about working with your recruiter?

He’s always checking in and anytime I’ve had a question he is right there to provide the best resources and information. Plus he’s nice and down-to-earth, so I feel like I can email those random last-minute questions that occasionally pop up at odd hours.

We’re committed to inspiring other traveling health professionals and would love to share your journey and travel experience to our community. We want to see where you’ve been!
