Inspired Traveler: Lindsay, OT

We believe that being a traveling health professional should be filled with inspiration, memories and unbelievable pictures! Meet Lindsay. Lindsay has been an Occupational Therapist for almost 5 years and has taken 3 contracts with MAS so far. She is here to share her experiences and advice with you.

How long have you been an OT?

In July 2019 I will be an OT for 5 years.

What made you decide to travel?

After being told I could not get a raise after almost 3 years at new graduate pay, my best friend in Texas asked me to be a bridesmaid in her wedding, I knew it was time for a change and took advantage! I attempted to get as close to her location outside Austin TX, and ended up 2 hours away, way closer than 32 hours from home!

How long have you been working with MAS?

I have taken 3 contracts with MAS

What do you like about working with your recruiter?

Bob is great, not just a great coworker and mentor, but an excellent peer who always provides me with support and jokes around and has fun too

What do you like to do in your free time?

Hiking, horseback riding, camping, and exploring national parks

Where has been your favorite place to travel?

Colorado was my favorite place since I began traveling, I had many opportunities to visit in between contracts, but recently I visited Moab, UT and fell in love once I got in a side by side and tore up the rocks and sands alongside jeeps and other 4 and 2 wheeled motor sports!

Where would you like to travel?

I continue to plan to visit more national parks… I have been to 43 so far!!!!

What is the best advice for new travelers?

Give it a try, if you don’t like it, it’s only a 13-week fieldwork assignment back in school and you’ll always move to what’s next! But I guarantee the next thing will be another contract! I originally said “only 2 contracts….” and now I’m moving on to my 9th!

Any funny stories so far to share?

People don’t believe me when I say I am from the North, they say I’m “too nice and friendly” …I’ve been dubbed by many people as an honorary Texan.
